Clinical psychologist Dr. Ali Mattu spent 10 years at New York City's best hospitals, treating hundreds of patients with anxiety disorders. 

Frustrated by how many people mental healthcare left behind, he quit his position at Columbia University to focus on creating media for those who can't access quality mental health information.

Now, his YouTube channel has grown to over 300,000 subscribersHe created Good At Anxiety to more deeply explore how anxiety works and what to do about it.

Dr. Ali has been called a "forward thinker" in psychology. His work has been described as "simple, thoughtful, and actionable." He was one of The Mighty's mental health heroes of 2015.

Dr. Ali lives in the San Francisco Bay Area with his wife, daughter, and son.

Dr. Ali is an expert at treating anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and body-focused repetitive behavior disorders (hair-pulling disorder, skin-picking disorder) using cognitive behavioral therapy. 

He was trained as a child clinical psychologist. While he's worked with people across the age spectrum, he specializes in teenage and young adult mental health. 

Dr. Ali was an assistant professor at the Columbia University Irving Medical Center and the director of mental health at Loop, a startup dedicated to social anxiety. 

Dr. Ali is licensed to practice clinical psychology in California (PSY34269) and New York (020357).

Dr. Ali received his B.A. from the University of California, Los Angeles where he majored in psychology and minored in Asian American studies.

He received his Ph.D. in clinical psychology from The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C.

He completed a doctoral internship at New York's Bellevue Hospital Center and a post-doctoral fellowship at NYU Langone Medical Center.
